Michaella is well known for her Chrysanthemum centrepiece, designed for .MGX by Materialise (and winning Most Beautiful Object at Design Indaba 2009) and has added to the collection with these impressive new designs. The Horse Marionette and Rocking Springbuck are both digitally designed using CAD software. All the parts have been placed in the same file so no assembly is required afterwards. The Horse Marionette have fully functional joints and movable wings. The Rocking Springbuck has rotating gears and they move as the buck rocks. The designs are printed in Nylon using selective laser sintering.

Through her use of this cutting edge technology, she exposes the endless possibilities of a new medium to the art world. Michaella raises questions regarding the impact of these new technologies referring to mass customisation and automated algorithms.
They will be on exhibition at the Grande Provence gallery in Franschhoek from the 1st to the 25th of May 2011. The work has also been selected to be part of the contemporary art gallery that forms part of RAPID 2011 , the largest Additive Manufacturing event in North America.
